No doubt there will be those who will want to blame the WSS for "provoking violence." This was one of the accusations which Martin Luther King tried to answer in Letter from a Birmingham Jail:

"In your statement you say that our actions, even though peaceful, must be condemned because they provoke violence. But is this a logical assertion? Isn't this like condemning a robbed man because his possession of money precipitated the act of robbery? Isn't this like condemning Socrates because his unswerving commitment to truth and his philisophical inquires precipitated the act by the misguided populace in which they made him drink hemlock? Isn't this like condemning Jesus because his unique God-consciousness and never-ceasing devotion to God's will precipitated the evil act of crucifixion? We must come to see that, as federal courts have affirmed, it is wrong to urge an individual to cease his efforts to gain his basic constitutional rights because the quest may precipitate violence. Society must protect the robbed and punish the robber."

I am a tibetan Gyalchen Dorje Shugden practioneer. Many of my close friends (tibetans) were at the protests. I wanted to join them but due to personal issues that were unavaoidale I could not be present. The practice has been in our family for several generations. Seeing the way the mob turned against the peaceful protestors I was reminded of the early days in Dharmsala. The Tibetan people have not advanced very much in their rigid thinking. I remember that in the 1970's an article came out in the Tibetan Review written by it's editor Dawa Norbu which stated the religion and politics did not go hand in hand. The tibetan masses were enraged- they accused him of being a communist, a chinese spy etc. Eventually they mob him, spat on him and did what they in New York. Then in the 1980's a similar incident occurred with jamyang Norbu. They allegations of being connected to the Chinese are universal for all that go against the dalai lama. They have launched a campain of keeping the masses ignorant, down trodden and paranoid. They would see the truth if it hit them it face. The idea what the DL says it truth is rampant and to go against DL is eveil is a mantra that tibetans know all too well. Sad but that is case! Many of the Tibetans today have no idea of what the truth is. To them DL and the TGIE's propganda is all they know.
